Ashford Port Health Announces Collaboration with APHA (EMI) on Egg Quality and Food Safety Inspections.

Ashford Port Health is proud to announce a new partnership with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) Egg Marketing Inspectorate, to conduct joint inspections focusing on egg quality and food safety for whole egg consignments.

This collaboration provides an excellent opportunity to work together in identifying and addressing any non-compliance and potential fraud related to GB egg imports.

Consignments will be selected based on intelligence, and physical checks will be carried out through joint inspections at the Sevington Border Control Post (BCP). The Egg Marketing Inspectors (EMI) team at APHA operates across multiple locations in the UK and Wales, and we are proud to be the only BCP in the country conducting this unique joint activity.

Our primary goal is to protect public health and ensure that imported eggs meet the required quality standards.
